FAQs
(Q) Are you a registered
charity?
(A) No. We are neither not-for-profit nor non-profit.
(Q)
How are you funded?
(A) We receive no funding from any source. Deliveries are made in
privately owned vehicles.
(Q)
How are donations made?
(A) We do not, nor have we ever, accepted outside monetary donations.
(Q)
How often do you work?
(A) Project W.A.R.M. is not a seasonal effort - work goes on weekly,
year-round. One month is set aside for woodlot and equipment maintenance
- eleven months are devoted to splitting and delivering.
(Q)
Do you accept donations of wood?
(A) No. The City of Richmond provides all our raw material. However,
split, stove-ready firewood is accepted if it is the right type (prime
hardwoods only), reasonably close to the woodlot and of sufficient
quantity to make retrieval feasible.
(Q)
What is your delivery area?
(A) A 12-mile radius from center city is the norm. Emergencies, beyond
that limit, are considered based on the severity of need.
(Q)
Who is eligible for firewood?
(A) Anyone whose need has been verified by The Salvation Army.
(Q)
What does it cost?
(A) Nothing.
(Q)
When are deliveries made? When do they start?
(A) Each Saturday. The heating season is four months - usually from
mid-November through mid-March. Temperature determines the actual start
and stop dates.
